Steven Harry Lolley, 69, passed away Friday, April 7, 2017, in Topeka, KS.
Steve was born July 17, 1947, in Topeka, KS, to Ivan Harry and Maxine Mildred (Mattox) Lolley. He graduated from Shawnee Heights High School in 1965. After high school he enlisted in the US Navy as an SK3. He served on the USS Alamo and the USS Cabildo, deploying to Vietnam and after 4 years he was honorably discharged. At the age of 22 he began his career in insurance for private companies and the State of Kansas before retiring in 2015. Steve was a member of the American Legion Post 400 and VFW Post 1650. Steve was a collector and loved to restore Aladdin and Victorian lamps. He loved attending any and all of his grandchildren's events, which kept him very busy.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Gayle (Mathias) Lolley; two children, Jeffrey (Hillary) Lolley and Janelle (Travis) Zerbe, both of Topeka; two grandchildren, Parker and Pearson Lolley; and two brothers, Danny and Michael Lolley.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents.
A funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 13, 2017, at Meriden United Methodist Church, 100 Dawson Street, Meriden, KS 66512. Steve will lie in state from 3:00 p.m. where the family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence Ave, Topeka, KS 66608.
A private family inurnment will take place at a later date at Meriden Cemetery, Meriden.
