Steven Douglas Day

Steven D. Day, age 71, of Topeka, passed away Monday, September 11, 2017 at Stormont Vail Hospital in Topeka. Steve was born December 3, 1945 in Highland, Kansas the son of Robert and Thelma Carlson Day. Steve graduated from Hiawatha High School in 1963 and then received his Bachelor’s degree from Washburn University. He married Sandy Tessendorf June 17, 1967 in Hiawatha. Steve served in the U.S. Navy from 1968 – 1970. He worked for the Santa Fe Railroad for over 36 years. Steve is survived by his wife Sandy of over 50 years; two sons, Brian (Lynette) Day of Shawnee and Travis Day of Auburn; four brothers, Larry Day of Hiawatha, Gary Day of Albuquerque, NM, Alan Day of Mulvane, KS and Clinton Day of Marysville and two grandchildren, Carson and Sydney.

Memorial services will be Friday, September 15, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at the Davidson Funeral Home. Private inurnment will be at the Rochester Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association and sent in care of the Davidson Funeral Home. davidsonfuneral.com.
