Stephen Wayne Johnson, 60, of Lawrence, formerly of Topeka, passed away Wednesday, March 4, 2015.
He was born April 22, 1954 in Topeka, Kansas, the son of Edward F. "Eddie" and Bernice I. (Schultz) Johnson. He was a 1973 graduate of Topeka High School.
Stephen was self-employed as a flooring contractor in the Lawrence area.
He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Lawrence.
Stephen married Laura A. Brauer March 1, 1997, in Lawrence. She survives of the home. Other survivors include, his daughter, Abby Irene Johnson, his son, Blake Tully Heubner of the home; and a brother, Tom (Cheryl) Johnson, Berryton, KS and two sisters, Linda (Larry) Lincoln, Tecumseh, KS and Denise (Dan) Appelhanz, Topeka; several nieces and nephews, including Mallory (Chris) Rea, Jessica Appelhanz, Tom (Kathy) Johnson, Jr., Michelle Johnson, Larry (Brenna) Lincoln and Lance (Kelly) Lincoln.
Stephen enjoyed making everyone laugh, spending time with family, NASCAR racing and was an avid Chiefs and KU Basketball Fan. He was a loving husband, father, brother, uncle and friend. He touched the hearts of everyone who knew him.
Honoring his request, Stephen was cremated. A memorial ceremony will be 10 a.m., Monday, March 9, 2015 at the Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence Ave, Topeka. The family will receive friends from 1-3 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
