Sidra Fluke, 62, of Topeka, passed away Wednesday, August 22, 2012.
Sidra was born February 11, 1950, in Topeka, daughter of Sydney and Edna (Gifford) Fluke. She graduated from Topeka West High School. Sidra and her family opened Topeka's first Petland pet store, and later, worked for Blue Cross Blue Shield of Kansas. Sidra was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Oskaloosa Chapter #62.
Sidra is survived by her parents, Sydney and Edna Fluke, Topeka, brother, Paul (Amy) Fluke, Topeka, sisters, Nancy (Roger) Leonard, Topeka, and Karen (Tom) McCracken, Dallas, TX, seven nieces and nephews, eight great nieces and nephews, and numerous beloved pets.
Her love for 'critters' of any four-legged variety was her trademark and calling. It started at a very early age. She was a country girl at heart, and finally attained her dream of living in the country for a few years, before ill health forced her back to the city. Whatever she did, she did it her way, and never looked back.
