Shirley Eagles

September 15, 1938 — March 18, 2025

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Shirley Nora Eagles at Midland Hospice with her beloved two daughters at her side. She left this world on March 18, 2025, in Topeka, Kansas. Born on September 15, 1938, Shirley lived a life characterized by her sweet nature and love for her family, touching the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Shirley was a dedicated professional, having worked for the State of Kansas, Department of Revenue and retiring with the Kansas Lottery.

A proud alumna of St. George High School, Shirley carried her love for learning into her adult life. She had a passion for reading, often losing herself in the pages of a good book. In addition to her literary pursuits, Shirley cherished the time spent with her beloved grandchildren: Logan Karolevitz, Haley Karolevitz, Claire Westfall, and Brady Westfall. They brought her boundless joy, and she found immense happiness in watching them grow.

Her kind spirit and gentle nature endeared her to those around her, and she will be remembered as a very sweet and loving individual.

Although her journey saw her experience the complexities of life, including two marriages—her union with William Orr brought her two daughters, Christi (Mark) Karolevitz and Shari (Craig) Westfall and later with Jack Eagles. Shirley's strength and compassion never wavered. She carries with her the memories of her parents, Virgil and Hazel (Simon) Lemon, and her infant sister, Alice Gwendolyn, who predeceased her. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, William and her second husband, Jack.

As we say goodbye to Shirley, we celebrate a life filled with love, laughter, and lasting memories. Her legacy lives on through her daughters and grandchildren, who will continue to honor her spirit and the values she instilled in them. She will be deeply missed by all who had the chance to share their lives with this remarkable woman.

Cremation is planned. Private family burial will take place at Rossville Cemetery in Rossville, Kansas.

Memorial contributions may be made to Helping Hands Humane Society, 5720 SW 21st St, Topeka, KS 66604.
