Shirley Faye Deal

Shirley Faye Deal, 85, passed away on January 15, 2023 in Topeka.   She was born March 10, 1937 in Council Bluffs, Iowa.  In 1955 she graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in Council Bluffs, Iowa.  Shirley’s Banking Career Started in 1968 and she retired in 1997,   beginning as a teller, she went on to become head teller, bank branch manager, assistant cashier, and personal banking officer.   She attended numerous bank seminars, classes and workshops.   She was a former member of the American Business, Women’s Association and Bank Women’s Association of America, PTA president, formerly active in Cub Scouts and Brownie Scouts, loved Little League baseball, was a fan of sports teams NY Yankees, Kansas City Chiefs, Denver Broncos and Boston Celtics.  She enjoyed reading, gardening, and home décor.   Her greatest joy was her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her son, Michael Culton; daughters-in law, Eva Cuylton and Hentjie Culton H’Luz; grandchildren, John (JoAnne) Culton, Savannah Culton, Kelly Culton Pesyan, Katy Culton, and Heather Gerry; great grandchildren, Graysen, Jaxen, Serenity, Juniper and Jubilee; many nieces and nephews also survive.

She was preceded in death by her, parents, Ralph and Frances Wood Chapin; brothers, Jack R. Chapin and O.G. (Bud) Chapin; sisters, Judy Klefstad, Betty Lombardo, Billie Jo Runyon, Alice (Micki) Reid; husbands, Richard C. Culton and Warren G. Deal; son, Richard (Rick) Culton; daughter, Susan J. Ball; and granddaughters, Melissa and Melinda White.

Memorial contributions may be made to Interim Hospice in Topeka or St. Jude’s Hospital.
