Sharon Kay (Axelton) Moore, 64, of Topeka, passed away Wednesday, February 9, 2022.
She was born December 30, 1957, in Topeka, Kansas, the daughter of Marvin and Kathryn (Peterson) Axelton. She graduated from Topeka High School class of 1976.
Sharon grew up in Topeka Kansas. She was Swedish and proud of her heritage. She was a twin and always had a close relationship to her siblings and parents. She loved spending summers with her grandparents at the farm in Olsburg Kansas.
In junior high she was a cheerleader and played softball, tennis and volleyball. She enjoyed disco dancing and was a beautiful singer. Sharon would listen and sing along with The Carpenters, Elvis, The Righteous Brothers, James Taylor, and other soft rock and love songs. She was a stay at home mom while her kids were young and loved being a mother. Sharon was a fabulous cook but would always enjoy a day off eating Taco Casa. She was raised loving and rooting for K-State but quickly switched gears and rooted for the Kansas Jayhawks after her daughter attended the University. She cheered for the Chiefs and became a Monday night football fan after her husband would always have the game on. She also enjoyed watching western movies, Dirty Dancing, Pretty Woman, The Wizard of Oz, and Lonesome Dove.
She enjoyed playing with her grandchildren, reading to them, and spending time with them. She always looked forward to weekly family dinners and extended family gatherings. She loved bowling with family and friends and playing cards. You would also find her often winning games of Word Chums when playing with family and friends.
Sharon married Richard Douglas Moore on October 13, 1978 at Trinity Lutheran Church. Together they shared 43 wonderful years. Survivors include her husband, Rick Moore; children, Christine (Shay) Lewis and Cyrus (Jenn) Moore; brother, Ron (Shelley) Axelton; twin sister, Karen (Tom) Arney and sister, Sherryl (Mark) Coufal-Ferretti; grandchildren, Landen Moore, Tayler Moore, Sophia Lewis, Cale Lewis, and Miles Lewis. She was preceded in death by her parents.
The family will greet friends during a visitation from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 15, 2022 at Parker-Price Funeral Home, 245 NW Independence Ave., Topeka, KS 66608.
A Celebration of her Life will be at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 16, 2022 at Parker-Price. Burial will follow at Rochester Cemetery.
