OBITUARY: Shannon Michael Rice
Shannon Michael Rice, 34, Topeka, died Wed., Sept. 1, 2010, at Stormont-Vail Hospital. He was born July 5, 1976, in Topeka. Shannon graduated from Shawnee Heights High School and attended Vet Tech School. He had worked for Hill's Pet Nutrition for 14 years. He was a member of a team of 5 to receive the "You Can Make A Difference Award" given by the Colgate-Palmolive Board of Directors this past May. Shannon was married to Melissa Diane on Dec. 14, 1996, in Topeka. Surviving are his wife: Melissa of the home; a daughter: Madison of the home: his parents: Glenn and Emma Rice of Berryton; a brother: Dustin Rice of San Diego, CA; and a grandmother: Myrtle Wilson of Topeka. Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM, Fri., Sept. 3, 2010, at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence Ave., Topeka. Interment in Mount Hope Cemetery. Shannon will lie in state after 4:00 PM, Thurs., at the funeral chapel where the family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Memorial contributions may be made to the Madison Rice Educational Fund c/o Topeka City Employees' Credit Union, 215 SE 7th, Rm. 140, Topeka, KS 66603.
