Sarah Margaret Scherdin
Sarah Margaret Scherdin, 88, Topeka, died Tuesday, March 15, 2016, at Brookside Retirement Home, Overbrook. She was born June 3, 1927, in Topeka, the daughter of William A. and Florence Margaret (Newbold) Hendee.
She graduated from Seaman High School and designed her class' ring. She worked for Quinton-Duffens Optical where she met her future husband. She also worked at Pelletier's, Deal Nursing Home, and was an artist at Myers Yearbook. She was a member of the Oakland Presbyterian Church and was a life-member of the Auxiliary to Goodyear VFW Post # 2187, Topeka. Sarah had volunteered at Colmery-O'Neil VAMC for 20 years.
She was married to Paul Edward Scherdin. He preceded her in death on January 27, 2012.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM, Saturday, March 19, 2016, at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence Avenue, Topeka. Interment will be in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery, 3616 SW Sixth Avenue, Topeka.
Sarah will lie in state after 3:00 PM, Friday, at the funeral chapel where friends will gather from 6:00 to 7:00 PM
