Sara Kay Copp passed away at a local hospice house in the presence of caring friends on Sunday, October 22, 2017. She was born June 1, 1941 in Newton, Kansas the daughter of George Scott and June Curtis Scott.
Sara worked hard all her adult life. She successfully owned and operated Sara’s Bargain Spot at 6th and MacVicar for many years. When the shop closed, she marketed jewelry in several venues, most notably in nursing homes where she delighted many residents with her wares. She also cared for her mother and her dear friend, Barbara, in their last days.
Preceding Sara in death were her mother, June Scott; step-father, Don Allensworth; brother, Curtis George Scott; her aunt, Lucille Curtis Long; and former husband Bob Copp.
Survivors include her daughter, Debra Shea-Jordan; sister, Jan Gray; grandchildren, Justin Hensley (Kristen), Jessica Hensley (Randy Collins), and Kristen Jordan; nephew, Curtis Scott Davis; dear cousins, Jim Long (Larissa) and John W. Long; four great-grandchildren, Zoe, Derek, Emerson and Rowan; and a host of dear friends.
Some who did many special things for Sara in her last days include Pam Reed, Bob Ward, Chris and Allen McMullen, Cheryl, Andy, Cindy, and numerous others. Sara fostered and nourished many long-term friendships and her family is deeply grateful for their love and support.
