Sandy Darnall, 81, of Topeka, KS, passed away Wednesday, November 22, 2023, at Brookside Retirement Community after a long fight with Alzheimer.
She was born November 6, 1942, in Topeka, Kansas, the daughter of Harold and Betty (Hess) Michael.
She graduated from Seaman High School in 1960. She spent much of her career as the accounting bookkeeper at Northland Christian Church prior to her retirement.
Sandy was strong in her faith and was very involved in many church activities and programs. She absolutely loved her children and grandchildren with all her heart. She was always there to give advice and support them. Sandy never missed a school activity, sporting event or program. She believed that all children needed to see someone in the audience supporting them.
Sandy enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, whether it was going to craft and antique shows, playing cards, trips with family and close friends or organizing her class reunion. She loved being around those she loved. She will be remembered for her passion for life and her love for her family.
She leaves behind her children, Deborah "Debbie" (Toby) Harman, Michelle "Shelly" Lenczewski, and Paul Lenczewski; five grandchildren: Brittany Wessels, Connor Harman, Kaylee Hogue, Andrew Hogue, Jordan Davis; two great-grandchildren: Ali Hogue and Lily Hogue; her brothers, Tom (Jo) and Harold Joe (Deidre) Michael; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Betty; and grandchildren Randy Hogue and Shawndy Hogue.
The family will greet friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 30, 2023 at Parker-Price 245 NW Independence Ave., Topeka, KS.
Funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, December 1, 2023 at Parker-Price. Following the service, there will be a reception held at the Parker-Price Reception center until 12:30 p.m. Burial will take place at 1:00 p.m. at West Lawn Memorial Gardens in Topeka.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Association, 3846 W 75th St, Prairie Village, KS 66208.
