Sandra Sue Stahly

Sandra Sue (Koerner) Stahly, AKA Sandy, Mom, Nana, Susie, 74, passed away Monday, December 25, 2017.

She was born May 24, 1943, in Newton, Kansas, the daughter of A.C. and Hazel (Hickerson) Koerner. She was a 1961 graduate of Newton High School.

In addition to being a homemaker, she also worked in education, business and retail. She was very active in her children's lives as they grew up being very involved with all their 4-H endeavors and attending as many of their sporting events and other extracurricular activities as she could. She was creative and had a passion for sewing. Her other passions included her many pets throughout the years, redecorating, working outside with plants, being outside and spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Sandra married Benjamin H. Stahly on October 26, 1968, in Newton, Kansas. He preceded her in death on August 8, 2013. Survivors include four children, Nicolette (Stahly) Leiby, Lenexa, KS, Shellie Stahly, Topeka, KS, Rory Stahly, Lenexa, KS, Cary Stahly and wife, Diana, Topeka, KS; grandchildren, Jerica Leiby, New York, NY, Jillian Leiby, Lenexa, KS, Carter Stahly and Quinn Stahly, Topeka, KS; four-legged children, Chachi, Gizmo, Tinker, and Chessie; siblings, Kathleen (Kay) Perkins, Newton, KS, Beverly (Joan) Tice, Wichita, KS. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Alice Baumgartner, and brother, Charles Koerner.

The family will receive friends at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, December 30, 2017, followed by the celebration of her life, at 11:00 a.m. at the Klasse Chapel at the First United Methodist Church, 600 SW Topeka Ave., Topeka, KS 66603.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Jefferson County Humane Society, 15295 K4 Hwy, Valley Falls, KS 66088.
