Sandra 'Sandi' Kay (Stolzer) Blush, 74, Topeka, died Wednesday, March 13, 2024 at The House at Midland Care after a courageous battle with cancer. Sandi was born on November 30,1949 to Elmer and Lucille (Loges) Stolzer in Belleville, KS. She lived with her parents and sister, Linda, on the family farm in Washington, KS. Her schooling began at Emmons Grade School and she graduated from Washington High School in 1967 and went on to receive a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science at Emporia State University in 1971. On June 8, 1985, Sandi was united in marriage to Rick Blush at Calvary Lutheran Church. Together they lived in Topeka and raised two children Trent, 49 and Brooke, 46. Sandi's great joy was her family and was happiest when everyone was together.
Sandi demonstrated her servant heart in the many activities she participated in to support her family and friends while also working outside the home. She started working at American Investors Life Insurance right after college and remained there for 40 years. She became a business analyst after working hard to learn and adapt to all the changing technology advances through the years. The best part of the job were all the life-long friendships she enjoyed.
Sandi was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church and served on many church committees and was church secretary for a period of time. She taught VBS and Sunday school, prepared meals for Advent/Lenten dinners and most recently led the Altar Guild. Growing up she was a member of the Busy Bee 4-H club and was also active in the Indian Creek 4-H club with her daughter Brooke, acting as project leader for cooking and organizing many events for the club. Her husband Rick introduced showing cattle and sheep to the family and it became a blessed family bonding activity. She worked hard on the sidelines during cattle and sheep shows to make sure everything ran smoothly. Sandi always found the best place to plug in the electrical cords and was the best at 'poofing' the cattle tails for the shows. Sandi also was active in the Indian Creek Elementary PTO serving as President and also supported her son Trent in Cub Scouts.
For anyone who knew Sandi well, they knew that she enjoyed baking and showing her love by remembering everyone's favorites and baking them for special occasions. Her family and many friends enjoyed her amazing cinnamon rolls, dinner rolls, kolaches and a variety of cookies including chocolate chip, snickerdoodles and oatmeal raisin. Sandi would spend days baking rolls and cookies. When family and friends would visit they would never leave empty handed. Sandi also enjoyed supporting her grandchildren in all their activities. She loved to be on the sidelines cheering them on and giving them a treat afterwards.
She is survived by Rick Blush, spouse; children Trent (Kelle) Oestreich and Brooke (Aaron) Peters; seven grandchildren Luke, Colin, Levi, Finn, Isaiah, Mallory and Easton; brother-in-law Ronald Nutsch; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Terry (Judy) Blush; nieces Kristie (Verlin) Fulton and Kim Mulford; nephews Brian Nutsch, Jeremy Blush and Jeffrey Blush.
She was proceeded in death by her parents Elmer and Lucille Stolzer, sister Linda Nutsch, and infant niece Lisa Nutsch.
