Sandra Kay (Dority) Benton, 78, Topeka, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, January 2, 2019 with her loved ones by her side.
She was born May 13, 1940, in Wichita, Kansas. Sandra was employed by various restaurants in Topeka, including Ira Price Café, Conley's Café and Tevis Restaurant retiring after over 30 years of service.
Sandra married John Forrest Benton on February 7, 1987 in Topeka. He survives. Other survivors include her children: Kay Dority of Overland Park; Richard Dority, Jr. (Christina Ray) of Topeka; Joe Dority of Topeka; Micheala Lauver (Mark) of Maricopa, AZ and Char Dority of Topeka; sister, Sandra Turner (Dennis) of Wichita; nine grandchildren: Nicole Berg (John), Samantha Munoz (Cody Benge), Shelby Dority, Shane Dority, Joe Dority, Jr., Haylee Good, Lucky Alonzo, Manny Ortega and Meko Ortega and nine great-grandchildren: Lucy, Savannah, Luke, Taylor, Gemma, Andrew, Paxton, Jude and Treytin.
Sandra will be remembered as a hardworking mother who loved and treasured her family deeply. She loved crafting, from crocheting to Christmas decorations, to coin purses and playing card holders. She was always creating something. She was also an incredible seamstress, all of which she did by hand and loved to play cards and work puzzles. Her favorite pastime was walking.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, January 7, 2019 at Parker-Price Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, 245 NW Independence Avenue, Topeka. Interment will be at Rochester Cemetery.
