OBITUARY: Samuel Howard Grimes
Samuel Howard Grimes, 82, Topeka died Sun., Feb. 5, 2006, at Plaza West. He was born Jan. 16, 1924, at Kansas City, MO the son of Howard H. and Junette E. (Crowder) Grimes.
` Mr. Grimes was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of World War II. He was a general traffic manager for the Union Pacific Railroad for 42 years. He was a member of Golden Rule Lodge # 90, A.F. & A.M.; Topeka Scottish Rite Bodies; York Rite Bodies; and Arab Shrine Temple.
He was married to Shirley Jean Fiske on June 4, 1944 at Leawood. She preceded him in death on Sept. 26, 2002.
Surviving are 2 daughters: Pamela J. Hodge of Topeka and Janine I. Debacker of Berryton; a son: Richard S. "Rick" Grimes of Mayetta; a brother: Robert A. Grimes of Overland Park, KS; 3 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m., Tues., Feb. 7, 2006 at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence. Golden Rule Lodge # 90, A.F. & A.M. will conduct Masonic graveside services at Rochester Cemetery.
Mr. Grimes will lie in state after 3:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral chapel where the family will receive friends from 7:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Monday.
