OBITUARY: R.W. "Bud" Levering
Roland W. "Bud" Levering, 85, Topeka, died Mon., Feb. 1, 2010, at Stormont-Vail Hospital. He was born May 5, 1924, at Topeka the son of Roland A. and E. Grace (Kerns) Levering. Bud attended Seaman High School and Washburn College. He served in the U.S. Army during WW II. He farmed for 12 years and was in insurance sales for over 40 years. Bud was a member of Second Presbyterian Church; Golden Rule Lodge # 90, AF & AM; and Topeka North Post #400 of the American Legion. Surviving are his wife: Mary Ann (Brown) Levering; 2 sons: David W. Levering and wife, Keri, of Manhattan; and Daniel N. Levering of Topeka; a sister: Margaret E. Sechrist of California; and 3 grandchildren: Ted Ellsworth, Matt Levering, and Jessica Levering. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Myrna Kay Ellsworth. Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM, Fri., Feb. 5, 2010, at Mount Hope Cemetery Mausoleum Chapel, 4700 SW 17th, Topeka, followed by Masonic services by Golden Rule Lodge # 90, AF & AM, and military honors by a Fort Riley U.S. Army Detail. The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 AM, Fri., at the mausoleum chapel. Bud will lie in state from 3:00 to 8:30 PM, Thurs., at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence Ave., Topeka. Memorial contributions may be made to the Topeka Rescue Mission, 600 N.
