Ruth Ann Zimmerman

Ruth A. Zimmerman, age 90, of Topeka, passed away Wednesday, February 17, 2021 at the Lexington Park Rehab Unit.  Ruth was born February 17, 1931 in Topeka the daughter of Charley and Irene (Hestand) Faulk.  She graduated from Auburn Rural High School in 1949 and attended Clark Business School. She married Donald Akard, they later divorced.   She married Robert L. Zimmerman October 30, 1964 in Lawrence.  He preceded her in death December 1, 2016.  Ruth worked for the State of Kansas in the Department of Labor.  She was an active member of Calvary Lutheran Church in Topeka.  She was preceded in death by a son, Brian Zimmerman; two brothers, Charles “Bud” Faulk, Jr. and Carl Faulk; two sisters, Naomi Adams and Ella Marie Hendrix.  She is survived by four sons, Anthony (Rae) Zimmerman of Mayetta, Jeff (Brenda) Zimmerman of Havensville, Bill Akard of Topeka and Duane (Connie) Zimmerman of Dallas; five daughters, Sandra  (Larry) Carter of Topeka, Donna (Randy) Lambrecht of Topeka, Kaye (Kenny) Holthaus of Mayetta, Bobbie (Charlie) Golder of Topeka and Judy (Jim) Edwards of Topeka; a brother, William Faulk of Wichita; a sister, Norma Henderson of Dover; 24 grandchildren and 33 great grandchildren.

Immediate family funeral services will be Tuesday, February 23, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. at the Calvary Lutheran Church in Topeka. She will lie in state Monday, February 22, 2021, from noon – 5:00 p.m. at the Davidson Funeral Home.  The family will not be present.  Interment for all family and friends will be at the Half Day Cemetery at Elmont following the services. Everyone attending is required to wear masks.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Calvary Lutheran Church or Red Carpet Service at the Topeka and Shawnee County Public Library and sent in care of the Davidson Funeral Home.  davidsonfuneral.com
