OBITUARY: Mrs. Ruth Lorene Young
Mrs. Ruth L. Young, 92, Topeka, died Wed., July 11, 2007, at The Topeka Presbyterian Manor. She was born in Topeka on Nov. 2, 1914, the daughter of Donald L. and Marguarite (Culver) Montgomery. Ruth was graduated from Topeka High School in 1932.
She worked in U.S.D. 501 Food Service for 16 years, retiring in 1980. She was a member of the Oakland Christian Church.
Ruth was married to Herbert Arlen Young on Nov. 2, 1933, at Lawrence. He preceded her in death on Dec. 17, 1985.
Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law: Linda R. Young and Neal Schortinghuis of Prescott, AZ; a son: Michael A. Young of Lawrence; 2 nephews: Jerry Young and Arlen Young; a great-niece: Kathy Young Hoskins; a great-nephew: Kenny Young; 2 step-grandchildren; and 2 step-great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be at 10:00 AM, Saturday, July 14, 2007, at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence. Interment will be in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery. Ruth will lie in state after 3:00 PM, Friday, at the funeral chapel where the family will receive friends from 6:30 to 7:30 PM.
