Ruth I. Hilderbrand, 83, of Topeka, passed away Thursday, November 2, 2006 at her home.
She was born July 28, 1923 in Chelsea, OK; the daughter of Cody C. and Ruth P. Bennett. Ruth attended school in Chelsea. In 1945, during WWII she worked the Circuit Boards as an Aircraft Electronics Technician. She later worked as nurses aide at Northeastern Hospital in Venita, OK.
She was united in marriage to Virgil "Chief" Hilderbrand on August 4, 1946 in Parsons, KS.
Ruth was a member of Papan's Landing, NIA, and was a member of Seaman Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sons, Virgil R. Hilderbrand, Russellville, Ark. and David A. Hilderbrand, Topeka, KS, a daughter, Janine S. Gray, Topeka, KS, a sister, Jesse Louise Ward, Wichita, KS, seven grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband on November 9th, 2002.
A funeral service will be at 2 p.m., Monday, November 6th at Penwell-Gabel Parker Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence. She will lie in state after 1 p.m. today at the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. this evening.
