OBITUARY: Russell Lee Northup
Russell Lee Northup, 74, Topeka, died Tues., Aug. 31, 2010. He was born Oct. 20, 1935, at Blaine, the son of James E. and Lucy M. (Adams) Northup. He was preceded in death by a brother, Arthur Northup. On Aug. 28, 1966, he was married to Betty L. Fletcher. She survives. Other survivors include a daughter: Molly Kay Ralston; a grandson: Kale James Ralston; and a brother: Wayne Northup. Russell graduated from Blaine High School; received a Bachelor's Degree from Kansas State; and received a Master's Degree in Social Work from K.U. He dedicated 34 years of service to the citizens of Kansas at the Kansas Dept. of Health and Environment. He worked in the field of foster care to set up standards for foster parents. He loved cats, flowers, and classical music. He was an active member of Seaman Congregational Church. Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM, Fri., Sept. 3, 2010, at Seaman Congregational Church., 2036 NW Taylor, Topeka. Committal services will be at 3:00 PM, Fri., at Wheaton Congregational Cemetery. Russell will lie in state after 3:00 PM, Thurs., at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence Ave., Topeka.
