Russell H. Burton

Russell R. Burton, 90, formerly of San Antonio, Texas passed away on January 26, 2022.   He was born January 15, 1932 at Chico, California the son of Russell H. and Merle Rohan Burton.  Russell was raised in California and graduated with a master’s and doctorate from U.C. Davis.   He was a research scientist by trade.   He was a civilian employee of the United States Air Force and was the Director of Crew Protection at one time.  At the time of his retirement, he received numerous awards from the City of San Antonio and the President of the United States.   He lived in San Antonio from 1970 until moving to Topeka recently.

He is survived by his son, Russell P.D. Burton of Topeka; Rob P. Burton of Las Vegas, NV; two stepdaughters, Heather Lea Goodwin of Cibolo, Texas and Jennifer Paige Pinkston of New Braunfels, Texas; his uncle Warren Burton in Washington, D.C.; two nieces, Kim Miller in Parkfield, CA and Ann Wood (Bill) of Montgomery, Texas; and grandchildren Brieanna, Benjamin and Zoey.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Lynn Thirburn.

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 pm Tuesday, February 1, 2022 at Davidson Funeral Home.  Services will be live-streamed at the Davidson Funeral Home & Cremation Services Facebook page.
