Ruby Lee Means, age 88, of Topeka, passed away Monday, January 4, 2021 at her home in Topeka. Ruby was born November 9, 1932 in Topeka the daughter of George and Anna (Creelman) Dick. Ruby married Albert Evans Meade, they later divorced. She married Johnny Means, Sr., he preceded her in death in 2008. Ruby lived most of her life in Topeka, working at Topeka Convalescent Center for over 30 years as a CNA. She also worked as a private home health aide. She loved traveling to Kentucky to listen to bluegrass music and attending festivals. Ruby was preceded in death by two grandsons, Jonathan Means, Sr. in 2009 and Albert Meade, Jr. in 2020; three sons, Robert Meade, William Meade and Randy Means; a stepson, Johnny Means, Jr.; and a brother, James Dick. She is survived by a son, Albert Edward Meade, Sr. of Williamsburg, KS; a stepson, Steve Means of Topeka; seven daughters, Joyce Ayers of Topeka, Verawana Bellew of Topeka, Brenda Wallace of Milledgeville, Georgia, Tressa Flinner of Lansing, KS, Donna Featherby of Wichita, Alberta Wedge of Ozawkie and Pamela Means of Goessel, KS; a sister, Nellie Hanula of Topeka; a brother, William Dick and several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Services will be Wednesday, January 13, 2021 at 1:30 pm at the Davidson Funeral Home. Ruby will lie in state on Tuesday from 12:00-5:00 pm. The family asks for you to make donations to Davidson Funeral Home to assist with funeral expenses.
