Ruby Baldwin
Ruby Pearl Baldwin, 60, died Sunday, March 2, 2003, at a Phoenix hospice.
Mrs. Baldwin had worked in movie theaters and in the restaurant business as a young woman and later was a nurse at St. Francis Hospital for 23 years before retiring in 1998.
She was born Jan. 23, 1943, in Hoisington, to Ralph Henry and Maggie Irene Bechtold Riggs. She attended school in Enid, Okla. She graduated from nursing school at the Kaw Area Vocational Technical School in Topeka. She moved back to the Hoisington and Great Bend area in 1961 and to Topeka in 1966. She was a Phoenix resident at the time of her death.
She married Gerald Dean Baldwin on Dec. 23, 1963, in Missouri. He died Dec. 31, 1997.
Survivors include three daughters, Margaret "B.J." Baldwin, Phoenix, and Kimberly Baldwin and Cindy Schiffelbein, both of Topeka; a son, Shon Baldwin, Topeka; and seven grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Parker-Price Mortuary Chapel. Burial at Topeka Cemetery will be private. Mrs. Baldwin will lie in state after 3 p.m. today at the mortuary where visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m.
