Dr. Royce Lee Wilson, 83, of Topeka, passed away on January 31, 2023 at Midland Hospice Care in Topeka.
Royce was born on September 9, 1939 to Charles and Dorothy (Peterson) Gunn in Mitchell, South Dakota.
Royce graduated from Brandon High School. After graduation he joined the United States Army. Royce served from 1958-1961, being stationed in Germany for 27 months. He was honorably discharged.
Royce attended Palmer College in Davenport, Iowa. He was a chiropractor for over 27 years serving in the Holton and Topeka areas.
On November 5, 1960, Royce married Janice Wilson (Koenekamp). Royce and Janice lived in Topeka, Kansas. Together they had 2 children.
He was a 50 year member of the Masonic Lodge 90 and 48 year member of the Arab Shrine both in Topeka. Royce was known for his love of cooking and grilling. His specialties were his smoked meats. He enjoyed being outside, tending to his garden. Royce loved to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. He loved spending time with his family and spoiling his grandchildren and great grandchildren, who knew him as "Bompa".
Royce is survived by his loving wife, Janice; children, Cindy Tennant and Michael (Mickey) Wilson; brothers, David (Rhonda) Gunn, Charles (Jessie) Gunn, and Bradley Gunn; grandchildren, Zac Tennant, Joshua Tennant, Jordan (Kelley) Tennant, Laurren Wilson, Nathan Tennant, and Singen Jenkins; and 8 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by both of his parents.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 4, 2023 at Parker-Price Funeral Home from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm.
Per Royce's request, cremation has taken place and inurnment will follow at a later date at Rochester Cemetery.
