Roy Preston

Roy Ernest Preston, 71, of Topeka, passed away, Tuesday, October 16, 2007 at Eventide Convalescent Center.

Mr. Preston was born January 24, 1936 in Columbus, NE the son of Glenn and Gladys (Bonner) Preston. He was preceded in death by his parents; a granddaughter, Catlin Mullin; and an infant sister, Blanche Preston.

He was a military veteran serving in the United States Navy from 1954-1964.

Roy was a woodworker.

He married Catherine McDermott in 1955. She survives. Other survivors include his daughter, Loretta J. (Thomas) McDonough, Reading, PA; his son, James Richard Preston, Mays Landing, NJ; brothers, Gene (Gerri) Preston, Tribune, KS; Jerry (Della) Preston, Topeka, KS; Paul (Sue) Preston, Alma, KS; sisters, Glenda Rudisill, Hagerstown, MD; Rochelle Moreland, Rich Hill, MO; Joyce (James) Waldron, Brandon, FL; Patty Leary, Carbondale, KS; 5 grandchildren, Michael J. Howey, Derrick Lee Kunzer and his girlfriend Andrea Matthews, Christopher Alan Kunzer, all of Barrington, NJ; Searlait Aine McDonough and Timothy Ian McDonough, both of Reading, PA and a great granddaughter, Ilyana Dina Kunzer.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m., Monday, October 22, 2007 at the Leavenworth National Cemetery, Leavenworth, Kansas. Mr. Preston will lie in state after 2:00pm Sunday and the family will greet friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Sunday at the Penwell-Gabel Parker Price Chapel, Topeka.
