Roy Stephen Paz, 73, Topeka, passed away on Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at his home. He was born September 14, 1944 in South Gate, CA, the son of Roy Garay and Carmel (Davis) Paz.
Roy had lived in Los Angeles, CA, Lomita, CA, San Marcos, CA, and Silver Lake, KS before moving to Topeka. He graduated from Mount Carmel High School (Los Angeles, CA) and Los Angeles Harbor Junior College. He was a Navy Seabee and had served in Vietnam.
He was an installer for Southwestern Bell and retired after 33 years of service. He later worked for Reser's Fine Foods and Frito-Lay.
Roy was married to Sherry Lee Scott on June 29, 1968 in Los Angeles, CA.
Surviving are his wife Sherry of the home; three daughters: Melissa Mikkelsen (Drake) of Lawrence, Laura Baker (Kevin) of Wichita, and Miranda Murray (John) of Overbrook; two sons: Michael Paz-Torres (Sonia) of Wamego, and John Thomas "J.T." Paz (Jenna) of Topeka; a sister: Diana Bunin of Lawrence; two brothers: Arthur Johnston (Chris) of Meadowbrook, CA, and John Johnston (Trish) of North Pole, AK; and 27 Grandchildren.
Memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 3, 2018 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 3611 SW Jewell Avenue, Topeka.
