Roy Edward Rees, 74, of Rossville, passed away Thursday, February 2, 2012.
He was born December 13, 1937 in Grantville, KS, the son of Harry F. and Nellie F. (Shope) Rees. He was a graduate of Rossville High School. He served in the National Guard.
He was self-employed as a distributor for Deep Rock Service Station of Topeka until 1969 when he relocated with his family to Anchorage, AK. He would later retire from Seymore Foods in Topeka. After his retirement, he worked for Roach Hardware in Topeka.
Roy married Beulah M. Burress, on July 18, 1957 at Oskaloosa, KS. She survives of the home. Other survivors include three children, Debbi (Howard) Childers, Auburn, Jeanette Rees, Mayetta and Brian (Ashley) Rees, Rossville; 6 grandchildren, Bryan, Carrie, Lacey, Steven, Lilly and Hudson; 5 great-grandchildren, 2 brothers, George Rees, Holton, and Glenn Rees, Silver Lake.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and an infant sister, Betty Rees.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m., Monday, February 6, 2012 at the Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence Ave, Topeka, KS 66608. Roy will lie in state from 2-5 p.m., Sunday at the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 2-3 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to American Heart Association, P.O.
