Rowena M. Saile, 81, of Topeka, passed away on Monday, November 5, 2007 at a Topeka hospital. She was born on February 7, 1926 in Topeka, the daughter of Earl V. and Faye N. Page Potter. Rowena was a life long Topeka resident. She graduated from Topeka High School. She was employed by Pittsburg Plate Glass Company and Townsend Glass Company for over 25 years before retiring. She was a member of the Old Time Pickers and Fiddlers where she served as secretary/treasurer, the Silver Lake Senior Citizens and performed in several country and western bands. Rowena married Clifford J. Saile on May 8, 1944 in Topeka. He preceded her in death on April 18, 2003. She was also preceded in death by one great-granddaughter, Kinzie L. Jones. Survivors include one son, David J. Saile of Topeka, one daughter, Stacy E. Jones of Topeka, three grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and one sister, Juanita Markham of Monterey, CA. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 N.W. Independence Ave. Burial will follow in West Lawn Memorial Gardens. Rowena will lie in state after 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be given to Midland Hospice Care, 200 S.W.
