Rosemary “Rosie” L. Lester, 81, of Meriden, passed away on Monday, May 31, 2021. She was born September 9, 1939 at Hoyt the daughter of Christopher and Mildred Winter Martin. Rosie was raised in North Topeka and graduated from Topeka High School in 1957. She met Larry Allen and they were married on August 23, 1958. He precedes her in death. Larry served in the military and they returned to Topeka in 1961. She attended Clark’s Business School. While the kids were growing up, she was a teacher’s aide at Quincy Grade School until 1976. She then went to work at Lattimore-Fink Labs and worked there until she retired in 1997. On November 30, 1984 she married Ray Lester. Ray preceded her in death on October 2, 1995.
She was a member of Overbrook Thursday Quilters and the Country Quilters Quilt Guild in Topeka, had attended Northland Christian Church, enjoyed sewing, making quilts, crochet, ceramics, camping and going to Branson. When the kids were growing up, they went to Colorado each summer. Rosemary was a huge Royals fan and enjoyed watching them until just a few days before her passing. She also liked to watch soap operas on TV. “The Young and the Restless” and “The Bold and the Beautiful” were a couple of her favorites. She always had a pet, usually a dog.
Survivors include her children, Kathy True and husband Mike of Olathe, Sandie Czajkowski and husband Daniel of Topeka, Daniel Allen and wife Darlene of Topeka, and Greg Allen and wife Julie of Meriden; 11 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren and one on the way; her sister, Darlene Morgans of Olathe; and brother Ron Martin of Holton.
Rosemary was preceded in death by her two sisters Connie Lay and a young sister named Catherine.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. at the Scranton Cemetery on Friday, June 4, 2021. Memorial contributions may be made to the Jefferson County Humane Shelter, 15295 K4 Highway, Valley Falls, Kansas.

Go to the junction of Highway 75 and Highway 56, head west for 2 miles, take the gravel road 1 1/2 miles south. The cemetery is located at 173rd Street and Lewelling Road.
