Rose Shoulders, 80, of Topeka, Ks, passed away Wednesday, May 17th, 2023.
Rose was born March 29, 1943 in Concordia, KS to Grace and Jerry Kolman. She lived on a farm in northern Kansas, attending school in Morrowville, KS. She graduated in 1961. After high school, Rose attended business school in Topeka, KS where she met Bob Kitts in 1964 and had 6 children.
During the years that the children were young and in school, she did books for the businesses her husband ran.
She was an active member in church, where she taught and participated in Sunday School and volunteered in the church office. Professionally, she worked in the Social and Rehabilitative Services office for the State of Kansas, where she retired in 2009. She also worked at House of Fabrics and for Viking/Husqvarna pursuing her hobby in sewing and embroidery while selling sewing machines until she retired in 2011. Rose enjoyed travelling around the country,spending time with friends and family, going on white water rafting trips in Colorado, flying to California, camping, and other adventures.
Rose was preceded in death by her parents, Jerry and Grace Kolman, and her spouses, Bob Kitts and Jack Shoulders. She is survived by her siblings, Carol(Thaine) Hoffman of Topeka, KS, Dorothy(Don) Grove of Belleville, KS, Jerry(Julie) Kolman of Loma Linda, CA, Barbara Wall of Bartlesville, OK, Les(Marilyn) Kolman of Plymouth, NE, Allan Kolman of Tyler,TX and Kelly(Jennifer) Kolman of Savannah, GA; her six children, Cindy(Sean) Rumage of Clay Center, KS, Bob(Tina) Kitts of Redding, CA, Patrick, Terry, and Michael Kitts of Topeka, KS, and David(Crystal)Kitts of Holton, KS; grandchildren Christina(Dan) Cannon of Manhattan, KS, Elizabeth(Justin) Rembowski of Hale, MI, Meghen(Robert) Gamble of Orlando, FL, Alexandra Rumage of Topeka, KS, Don Rumage(Whitney Cox) of Oxford, NC, Miranda Kitts of Topeka, KS, Rebecca,Davis,CA Rachael, and Bob Kitts of Chico,CA;Logan and Joseph Kitts of Worcester, MA, and Zeke and Kody Kitts of Holton, KS; and her great-grandchildren Lucas, Blaine, Liliana, and Bryson Rumage, Elisabeth and Anastasia Bussing, Methias Rembowski, and Brinley Rumage.
Memorial services for Rose will be at First Christian Church on Saturday, May 27, 2023. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the First Christian Church of Topeka and the Kansas chapter of Relay for Life.
