Rose Eleanor Trahoon
Rose Eleanor Trahoon, 83, Topeka, died Sunday, Aug. 17, 2003, at Manor Care Health Services in Topeka. She was born Oct. 20, 1919, in Louisville, Kan., to Daniel and Bessie Kohler McCoy. She graduated from Wamego High School Class of 1937. She had lived in Wamego and San Francisco, Calif., before moving to Topeka in 1952. Mrs. Trahoon worked in the shipyards in San Francisco and for Pacific Bell as a switchboard operator for Hills Pet Food for 34 years as a switchboard operator and a receptionist. She was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church, Ladies of the Moose, Eagles, Switchboard Club and Ladies of the Shrine. She married Floyd L. "Red" Trahoon on May 3, 1964, in Topeka. He survives. Other survivors include a sister, Thelma Berry, Topeka; two stepdaughters, Susan C. Gaggero, and Janice Ables, both of Topeka; two stepsons, Steven Trahoon and Floyd Trahoon Jr., both of Topeka; three stepgrandchildren; and four stepgreat-grandchildren. Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday Aug. 20, 2003, at Parker-Price Mortuary. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Topeka. Rose Eleanor Trahoon will lie in state at Parker-Price Mortuary after 2 p.m. today, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Childrens Hospital in care of Arab Temple, 1305 S. Kansas Ave., Topeka, Kan., 66612-1332.
