OBITUARY: Rose C. Flowers
Rose C. Flowers, 89, Topeka, died Tues., Feb. 14, 2012, at her home. She was born May 29, 1922, in Topeka, the daughter of George and Bertha M. (Fritz) Coon. Rose was married to Howard W. Flowers on June 3, 1939, in Topeka. He preceded her in death on Dec. 28, 1983. She was also preceded in death by 3 children: Daryl Flowers in July, 1979, Wayne Flowers in Sept., 2000, and Vicki Flowers in Sept. 2006; and a grandson: Justin Flowers, in Oct., 2000. Surviving are 7 children: Bev Zavadil of Overland Park, Juanita Turkin, Linda Bigenwalt, Jacque Sewell, Carolyn Malone, Ed Flowers, and Jay Flowers all of Topeka; siblings: Charles Coon, and Delores Lister both of Topeka, and Helen Lang of Calif.; several step-children; 20 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; and 5 great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 12:30 PM, Sat., Feb. 18, 2012, at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence Ave. Interment in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery. Rose will lie in state after 3:00 PM, Fri., at the funeral chapel where the family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:00 PM.
