Rosalie Phillips

Rosalie (Ready) Phillips, 91, of Topeka passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 3, 2019 with her family by her side.   She was born June 2, 1928 in Topeka the daughter of Robert and Mina (Guffey) Ready.   Rosalie graduated from Topeka High School.   She married Thomas A. Phillips.   They later divorced.   Rosalie and Tom adopted a spunky five-year-old girl, Evelyn.   Heaven celebrated the day she finally came home in 1974. They moved to Kansas City, Parsons and then later settled in Topeka.   Rosalie was a legal secretary and worked for the Shawnee County District Attorney’s Office.  She was especially proud of the fact that her granddaughter Amber works in the same position Rosalie held many years before.  Rosalie loved to do intricate needlepoint, played the piano and she loved her cats.   She attended First Assembly of God Church in Topeka. Every Saturday, Rosalie and her two best friends, Virginia and Ruth, would go shopping, and on Sunday they would go out to eat at Furr’s or Perkins.

Survivors include her daughter Evelyn Phillips of Topeka; brothers, David Ready and wife Diane in Washington state, Larry Ready and wife Pat in Oklahoma; grandchildren, Amber and Rafael Cardona, Mercadeec and Zach Witt, and Dalton Williams, all of Topeka; eight great grandchildren and one on the way.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Mina Ready; brother, Virgil Ready; niece, Tammy Ready; and nephew, Scott Ready. Rosalie was also preceded in death by her two best friends, Virginia Fuller and Ruth Miller.

Funeral services will be held at Davidson Funeral Home on Friday, December 6, 2019 at 10:30 a.m.   Cremation will follow. Memorial contributions may be made to Kansas Palliative and Hospice Care. The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of Aldersgate Village and Kansas Palliative & Hospice Care for their care of Rosalie.
