Ronald George Corbin
Ronald George Corbin, 61, Topeka, was called home to be with the Lord, Tuesday, October 13, 2015, at Stormont-Vail Hospital. He was born May 22, 1954, at Topeka, the son of George Samuel and Freda Arlene (Kitt) Corbin. His father preceded him in death on April 4, 2008.
Ron was baptized in and attended Second Presbyterian Church. He attended Rochester Grade School and Northern Hills Junior High School and graduated from Seaman High School in 1972. After graduating from high school he joined the U.S. Marine Corps in 1972, serving for two years and then served in the reserves with an honorable discharge as Corporal. Ron then attended Kaw Area Vocational Tech School and Washburn University. He did his journeyman electrician with Lesser Electric. After becoming an electrician he kept current through 2015. He retired from Jostens in 2012.
Ron loved spending time with his family and talking religion with his life-long friend, Craig Burkett. He visited his mother faithfully weekly. He was always there for everyone, ready to lift you up and cheer you on.
Ron was married to Sandra Marie Mentzer on March 16, 1984, in Topeka.
Survivors include his wife, Sandy; his mother, Freda A. Corbin; step-daughter: Laura J. Alejos; step-son: Rodney L. North, Jr. (Crystal); sister: Sheila K. Hill (Laro); brother: Robby Corbin (Sandi); grandchildren: Alyssa M. Alejos, Chaz A. Alejos, Trey L. Alejos, Tayler L. North, Tyler K. North, and Alexis J. Alejos; great-grandson: Bryson Bolen; four nieces: Michelle Schreiner (Todd), Marci Miller (Tom), Allison Nelson (Brandon), and Robyn Devlin (Brian); a nephew: Collin Corbin (Sara) , and many other loved ones. And we cannot forget his faithful dog, Annie.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM, Monday, October 19, 2015, at Mount Hope Cemetery Mausoleum Chapel, 4700 SW 17th Street, Topeka. A U.S. Marine Corps Detail will conduct military honors at the graveside service in in Mount Hope Cemetery.
Ron will lie in state after 3:00 PM, Sunday, at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence Avenue, Topeka, where the family will receive friends from 5:00 to 6:00 PM.
