OBITUARY: Ronald D. "Buck" Scott
Ronald Dewey "Buck" Scott, 83, Topeka, died Wed., June 21, 2006, at his home. He was born at St. George, on July 10, 1922, the son of William Dewey and Gypsy Isla (Dugan) Scott.
Buck graduated from Wamego High School. He was a World War II veteran having served from 1942 to 1945 in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was stationed in the Pacific and was awarded the Purple Heart.
He had lived in Topeka the past 20 years and was a retired construction worker.
Buck was married to Bernice Gertrude Martell on Feb. 13, 1943 at San Diego, CA. She preceded him in death on Feb. 27, 2003.
Surviving are 2 daughters: Trudy Anno of Berryton and Sherry Paz of Topeka; 2 sons: Ronald Scott of San Marcos, CA and George Scott of Manhattan; 15 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 2:00 p.m., Sat., June 24, 2006, at Prairie Home Cemetery, Topeka. A Fort Riley U.S. Army Detail will conduct military honors. Buck will lie in state after 3:00 p.m. Friday, at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 N.W. Independence where the family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m.
