Roger Lynn Hibbs, 81, of Topeka, passed away on February 5, 2024 at Kelly House.
He was born on May 14, 1942 to Harold and Caroline (Stielow) Hibbs in Norton, KS. He went to school in the Highland Park school system through his junior year when he moved to Seaman High School where he graduated. He attended Clark's School of Business for two years and then off and on at Washburn University in Topeka. He was in 4-H, F.F.A. and Boy Scouts. He played drums in the 4-H Band, Highland Park and Seaman Bands, and the Washburn University Band. He raised sheep and rabbits in 4-H and F.F.A. and was an Assistant Scout Master for Boy Scout Troop 21. He sang in the Highland Park United Methodist Church Choir from age 3 on, and later sang in the Capital City Barber Shop Chorus, where he was a member for 56 years. He held several jobs including working in the mailroom and messenger for the bank which later became Bank of America. Roger served his country in the Navy Reserve in Topeka from 1964 until 1974, and served Active Duty from 1967 until 1969 as a Storekeeper.
Roger worked as a Mail Clerk Messenger for Bank of America.
On June 22, 1969 he married Janet Kiper. Roger and Janet lived in Topeka, Kansas.
Roger is survived by his loving wife; Janet, son; Gregory (Cindy) Hibbs, grandchildren; Clara Hibbs, and Grace Hibbs.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother; Bruce Hibbs.
Visitation will be held from 1:00pm until 2:00pm on Friday, February, 2024 at Parker-Price & Davidson Funeral Home Chapel, 245 Independence Ave, Topeka, Kansas with funeral service to follow at 2:00pm. Interment will follow service at Rochester Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers Roger would prefer that memorials are given to the Lakeview Church of the Nazarene, 2835 SE Croco Road, Topeka, Kansas 66605.
