Rodney Clayton Meyer, 55 of Topeka, passed away, Tuesday, Aug. 9, 2005 at his home. He was born Aug. 30, 1949 in Clear Lake, South Dakota the son of Clayton Arthur and Burndine Irene Bundy Meyer.
Rodney was preceded in death by his parents.
He owned and operated the Rod Shop, Inc. Machine Shop in North Topeka from 1979 to 1997. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He was a member of Beautiful Savior Evangelical Lutheran Church. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother and friend.
He married Connie Sue Smiley, Feb. 19, 1972 in South Shore, South Dakota. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include two sons, Jerry Lee Meyer, Jason Alan Meyer, both of Topeka, KS; a daughter, Joy Lynn Keel, Harveyville, KS; one brother, Norris Meyer, Watertown, WI; two sisters, Arylus Barrow, Rapid City, SD; Marlene Hansen, Kearney, NE; and five grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 13, 2005 at Beautiful Savior Evangelical Lutheran Church. Interment will be at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, at Scranton Cemetery where military honors will be conducted by a funeral detail from Ft. Riley.
Mr. Meyer will lie in state after 3:00 p.m., Friday, Aug. 12, 2005 at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel in North Topeka where the family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
