Robert William "Bob" Donaldson, 72, of Topeka, passed away Sunday, March 18, 2012.
He was born December 12, 1939 in Chester, PA, the son of John Robert and Blanche Margaret (Thompson) Donaldson. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1956 to 1964.
Mr. Donaldson was employed by Munns Medical Supply, Theracon, American Investors Insurance Company and was owner and operator of the Surface Doctor of Topeka. He was a member of the Oakland United Methodist Church.
Bob married Carol Grubb. They were divorced. He married Phyllis Ann Berry on October 19, 1984 in Topeka. She preceded him in death on January 14, 2009. Other survivors include 7 children, Cynthia (David) Rhodes, Emporia, KS, Kathy (Mike) Green, Perry, KS, Ryan (Stacey) Anderson, Lawrence, KS, Terry (Bobbie) Donaldson, Melanie Donaldson, Shannon Donaldson and John (Laura) Donaldson II, all of Topeka; 17 grandchildren, Amy Herl, Angela (Travis) Hysom, Tiffaney (Brock) Badger, Lisa (Rodney) Doty, Hal (Celena) Richardson III, Ashlee Anderson, Carly Donaldson, Kelsey Donaldson, Sydney Donaldson, Ellis Donaldson, Janelle Goodman, Kaia Donaldson, Avery Donaldson, Samantha Blanchard, Hannah Blanchard, John Donaldson and Gabriel Donaldson; 8 great-grandchildren, Keyara, Kolton, Isabella, Hunter, Gavin, Landen, Molly and Brandon; and a sister, Sandra Johnson, Topeka.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a grandson, Harley Goodman and a sister, Margaret Donaldson.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Friday, March 23, 2012 at the Oakland United Methodist Church, 801 NE Chester Ave Topeka, KS 66616. Interment with military honors will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Topeka. Bob will lie in state after 3 p.m., Thursday at the Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence Ave, Topeka, where the family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society, 1315 SW Arrowhead Rd, Topeka, KS 66604 or to the Center for Basic Cancer Research at Kansas State University, 1 Chalmers Hall, Manhattan, KS 66506-3901 or to Midland Hospice Care of Kansas 200 SW Frazier Circle, Topeka, KS 66604.
