OBITUARY: Robert William Rook
Robert William Rook, 80, Topeka, died Tues., Jan. 22, 2008, at Eventide Convalescent Center. He was born May 28, 1927, at Lone Elm, KS, the son of Claude B. and Ada (Hensley) Rook.
Robert grew up in Colony, KS, and attended school there. He was a U.S. Army Air Force Veteran of World War II. He worked for the Shawnee, KS, Street Department and in the Overland Park Area. He moved to Topeka, in 1980, and worked for Penwell-Gabel before retiring. He was a life member of Topeka North Post # 400 of the American Legion.
He was preceded in death by his parents; step-fathers: E.F. Turner and Herbert Worley; a sister: Lillie Mae Olson; and a great-nephew: Jason VanDam.
Surviving are a sister and brother-in-law: Mable and Don VanDam; a niece Patty Kay Hasty and her husband, Will; nephew: Mike VanDam and wife, Kathy; 3 great-nephews: Dustin, Michael, and Jason; and a great-niece: Julie, all of Topeka.
Private graveside services will be at Colony Cemetery in Anderson County. Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
