OBITUARY: Robert Vance Nestler
Bob won his freedom from his 7 1/2 year battle with brain cancer. He was called into glory on Wed., Oct. 4, 2006. Born Robert Vance Nestler on Jan. 22, 1971, at Cleveland, OH, the son of Rev. Robert Bruce and Elizabeth Caroline (Ricker) Nestler.
Bob was a paramedic and firefighter having worked for Medivac and for the past 11 years for the City of Topeka Fire Department. He was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church and Firefighters Local # 83. He was a volunteer for the Soldier Township Fire Department.
He was married to Tanya A. Mick on April 3, 1993, at Calvary Lutheran Church, Topeka. She survives.
Also surviving are a son, Spencer Nestler, of the home; a daughter, Mallory Nestler, of the home; his parents, Rev. Robert and Betty Nestler, of Topeka; parents-in-law: Ken and Pat Mick of Topeka; 3 sisters and brothers-in-law: Debbie and Dave King of Holton, Becky and Bob Tackett of Wamego, and Susan and Ken Roberts of Wamego; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law: Ron and Brenda Mick of Rossville; a niece, Courtney; and 9 nephews: Dustin, Joshua, Ryan, Nicholas, Aaron, Brandon, Paul, Casey, and Caleb. He was preceded in death by a brother, Steve Nestler, on April 4, 1960.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m., Mon., Oct. 9, 2006, at Calvary Lutheran Church, 4211 N.W. Topeka Ave. Interment will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery. Bob will lie in state after 1:00 p.m., Sunday, at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 N.W. Independence, where the family will receive friends from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m.
