OBITUARY: Robert Norman Cook
Robert Norman Cook, 82, Grantville, died Thurs., Sept. 14, 2006, at Stormont-Vail Hosp., Topeka. He was born Sept. 10, 1924 at Lewis, CO the son of Bert and Lela Bledsoe Cook.
Robert served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict; operated a tank wagon at Barnes; worked on the railroad at Fairbury, NE; worked for Bowers Construction in Topeka; worked in the maintenance department at Memorial Hospital; and was a hobby farmer.
He was married to Rose Marie Schoenrock on Jan. 21, 1956 at Lincoln, NE. She survives. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Lori Sue Boyden.
Surviving in addition to his wife are a son: Douglas Alan Cook of Topeka; 2 daughters: Sharon Lynn Ard of Carbondale, and Debra Anne Shipley of Topeka; 2 brothers: Paul Cook of Delta, CO, and Phil Cook of Green; 5 sisters: Rose Marie Elliott of Abilene, Daisy Gilmore of Grand Prairie, TX, Lily Warburton of Clyde, Nida Werner of Waco, NE, and Peggy Stufflebean of Kearney, MO; 11 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m., Tues., Sept. 19, 2006, at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 N.W. Independence, Topeka. Cremation will follow. Robert will lie in state after 3:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral chapel where the family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday.
