Robert A. Mcgarity

Robert A. McGarity, age 91, of rural Meriden, passed away Saturday, October 20, 2018 at Stormont Vail Hospital in Topeka. Bob was born December 14, 1926 in Meriden the son of John and Ida Weisner McGarity. Bob graduated from Meriden High School in 1944. He married Jane Sester Clark April 20, 1963 in Topeka. Bob worked as a farmer in the Meriden area all his life. He was a lifelong member of the St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Meriden and a founding member of the Knights of Columbus, Meriden Council. He was preceded in death by two brothers Paul and Justin; a sister, Rita and a son in law, Raymond Tannahill. He is survived by his wife of over 55 years, Jane McGarity; three sons, Albert (Debbie) Clark of Shawnee Mission, KS, Michael (Barbara) McGarity of Winchester, KS and Patrick (Lisa) McGarity of Meriden; three daughters, Rebecca Hernandez of Holton, Angela (Michael) Casey of Meriden and Stacy (Ryan) Best of Olathe, KS ; a brother, Kenneth McGarity of Topeka; 14 grandchildren, two step grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren and six step great grandchildren.

Mass of Christian burial will be Thursday, October 25, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at the St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Meriden. Rosary will be prayed at 5:00 p.m. with visitation to follow until 7:30 p.m. at the church on Wednesday. Interment will be at the St. Aloysius Catholic Cemetery.
