OBITUARY: Robert Morrison Kaufman
Robert Morrison Kaufman, 84, Tecumseh, formerly of Topeka, died Sun., June 20, 2010, at his home. He was born Oct. 24, 1925, in Atchison, the son of Flossie (Anderson) and Stanley Kaufman, Sr. He was reared in Oskaloosa. Bob served in the U.S. Navy during WW II on the U.S. McCord DD-534 and graduated from Topeka High following the war. He worked for Coca-Cola Bottling in Topeka briefly after the war and then for Seymour Foods, where he was service manager until his retirement in 1988. Bob attended Fellowship Bible Church and was a member of Topeka North Post # 400 of the American Legion and Philip Billard Post # 1650, VFW. He was married to Betty Jean Peckham on June 26, 1949, in Topeka; and they lived in North Topeka for their entire married lives. Bob is survived by his wife: Betty; son: Randy; daughter-in-law: Elmarie; and 3 grandsons: James, Andrew, and Daniel, and his brother, Stanley Kaufman, Jr. (Lea Ann). He was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Newman. Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM, Mon., June 28, 2010, at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence Ave., Topeka. Military honors will be conducted by Topeka North Post # 400 of the American Legion at Rochester Cemetery. Bob will lie in state from 3:00 PM to 8:30 PM, Sat., at the funeral chapel where the family will receive friends from 5:00 to 6:00 PM.
