Robert Lee "Bob" Brooks, 66, beloved father and grandfather was called to rest Feb. 24, 2013. Bob was born July 7, 1946, in Beloit, WI. He served honorably in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War, and was awarded the Bronze Star. Bob was an avid outdoorsman, a member of the V.F.W., American Legion, N.R.A., and a life-time member of the North American Hunting Club.
He is survived by his son: Robert "Bob" Brooks II (Dawn) of Topeka; a step-daughter: Kelly Wade of Vancouver, WA; brothers: Ernest Brooks, Donald Votava, and Harold Votava; sister: Dorothy Birr; many nieces and nephews; 4 grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter. He was preceded in death by his mother and stepfather: Irma Shores Votava and James Votava; and a sister: Margaret Barth.
Per Bob's wishes he has been cremated. Graveside services will be at 2:00 PM, Thurs., Feb. 28, 2013, at Prairie Home Cemetery, NW 35th & Menoken Road, Topeka. Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel is assisting the family.-
