Robert D. Harrison, 62, Tecumseh, passed away on Wednesday, January 10, 2007 at his residence.
Bob was born April 18, 1944 in Hartner, the son of Jerrel and Grace (Salsberry) Harrison. He was raised in the Milton-Norwich area and graduated from Argonia High School in 1962.
He was in the Army National Guard and was activated in 1968 to serve in Vietnam until 1969. He received numerous awards while serving overseas.
He worked at Cessna Aircraft until 1970 when he moved to Topeka and became a Correctional Officer for the State of Kansas. He worked with Governor Joan Finney to get retirement benefits for corrections officers in K. P.& F. He retired in 2001 for health reasons.
Bob liked following his brother-in-law, John Boyce with his racing, and numerous outdoor activities with his family and Boy Scout Association.
Bob married Karen Boyce on January 22, 1965 in Wichita. She survives. Other survivors include 3 daughters; Susan (Darren) Davenport, Carolyn (David) Ohmes, Kimberly (Damon) Holford, all of Topeka, 6 grandchildren; 1 great grandson; and a sister, Alice Pohl, Burlingame. He was preceded in death by his parents and 1 niece.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, January 15, 2007 at Penwell-Gabel Parker Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence. Burial will be in Valley Falls Cemetery with military honors. Bob will lie in state at the funeral home after 2:00 p.m. on Sunday and family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
