Robert "Gale" Snickles
Robert "Gale" Snickles, 63, of Topeka, passed away Thursday, November 27, 2014, at the Peggy Kelly House after a long battle with dementia. He was born April 19, 1951, in Topeka, Kansas, the son of Robert and Ethel (Griffith) Snickles.
He was a 1969 graduate of Seaman High School. He served in the Army National Guard.
Gale was employed by the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company for 27 years, retiring in 1998.
He was a former member of Moose Lodge No. 555 and United Steel Workers Local No. 307.
Gale was married to Vicki Sue Garretson on April 16, 1977. They were married for 31 years before they divorced.
Survivors include two daughters, Melissa Sue Snickles and Emily Sue Snickles, both of Topeka; and three sisters, Nancy Espinoza, Garden City, KS, Diana Hanna, Topeka and Kathy Smith (Greg), Topeka.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Karen Snickles.
A funeral ceremony will be at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, December 2, 2014, at the Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence Ave, Topeka. Interment in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery, 3616 SW Sixth Avenue. Gale will lie in state after 3:00 PM, Monday, at the funeral chapel where the family will receive friends from 5:30 to 7:30 PM.
