OBITUARY: Robert Franklin Johnston
Robert Franklin Johnston, 64, Topeka, died Wed., March 22, 2006, at Stormont-Vail Hosp. ER. He was born Sept. 6, 1941, at Topeka, the son of Noel John and Inez May (Spencer) Johnston.
Robert served in the U.S. Navy. He was an audio-visual specialist for U.S.D. 501 before retiring in 1994. He was a member of Highland Park Baptist Church; Albert Neese Lodge # 248, A.F. & A.M. (Past Master); and Topeka Chapter 128 of National Sojourners, Inc.
Preceding him in death were his parents; and siblings: Genevieve Johnston, Melvin Johnston, Lois Shirley, and Ray Johnston.
On Sept. 23, 1960, he was married to E. Marie Tobias at Memphis, TN. She survives of the home.
In addition to his wife survivors include 4 sons: Noel Jay Johnston of Harveyville, Joel Franklin Johnston of Topeka, Jeffrey Scott Johnston of Topeka, and James Robert Johnston of Rossville; 3 brothers: Johnnie Johnston of Wichita, Jimmie Johnston of Hurst, TX, and Rick Johnston of Topeka; a sister: Freda Dinwiddie of Topeka; and 9 grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m., Mon., March 27, 2006, at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence, followed by Masonic Services conducted by Albert Neese Lodge # 248, A.F. & A.M. A Fort Riley U.S. Army Detail will conduct military honors at Half-Day Cemetery, Elmont. Robert will lie in state after noon Sunday at the funeral chapel where the family will receive friends from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m.
