Robert Edward Lee
Robert Edward Lee, 93, Topeka, died Sunday, December 27, 2015, at Colmery-O'Neil V.A.M.C. He was born November 19, 1922, at Topeka, the son of John Henry and Minnie Katherine (Dodds) Lee.
He attended Pleasant Valley School and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Bob was a carpenter with Carpenter Local 1445. He was a life-time member of American Legion Post # 288 in Veedersburg, IN and V.F.W. Post # 2395 in Covington, IN.
Bob was married to Viola L. Colgrove on December 15, 1943, in Topeka.
She preceded him in death on July 30, 1990. He was also preceded in death by his second wife, Ambia "Gayle" Lee, and a daughter, Barbara Ann Rice, on June 9, 2015.
Surviving are a brother: Rodger Lee of Topeka; a son-in-law: George Rice of Clay Center; three grandsons: Jerry Long (Carrie) of Caledonia, WI, Glenn Long (Shanan) of Topeka, and Terry Rice (Tiffany) of Lyndon; four great-grandchildren; and a great-great-granddaughter.
A U.S. Navy detail will conduct military graveside honors at 2:00 PM, Saturday, January 2, 2016, at Rose Hill Cemetery, Newman, Jefferson County, Kansas.
Bob will lie in state from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM, Saturday, at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence Avenue, Topeka.
