OBITUARY: Robert D. "Bob" Rogers
Robert D. "Bob" Rogers, 80, Topeke died Sat., July 23, 2005 at Midland Hospice House. He was born July 17, 1925 at Elmont the son of William Paul and Hazel F. Layman Rogers.
Mr. Rogers served in the U.S. Army and was retired from Goodyear after 30 years of service.
He was a member of Hoyt Lodge #327, A.F. & A.M. and Capital City Daylight Lodge #454, A.F. & A.M. He was also a member of Topeka Scottish Rite Bodies and had received the honorary 33rd. Degree. He was also a member of Arab Shrine Temple, Legion of Honor Unit and Capitol Post # 1 of the American Legion.
He was a pedal steel guitar player, playing with numerous country bands over the years.
He was married to Eileen M. Myers on January 18, 1947 at Ottawa, Kansas. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include a brother, Donald Rogers of Topeka; sister, Marie Wright of Topeka; brother-in-law, Melvin E. Myers of Kansas City, MO; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces & great-nephews.
Mr. Rogers was cremated. Masonic services will be conducted by Hoyt Lodge #327, A.F. & A.M. and Rose Croix services will be conducted by Topeka Scottish Rite Bodies at 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, July 26, 2005 at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel; 245 N.W. Independence. The family will receive friends following lodge services until 8:00 p.m. Inurnment will be at Penwell-Gabel's Memorial Park Cemetery.
