Robert John Clement, 81, Topeka, passed away Saturday, October 20,
2007 from throat cancer while suffering from Alzheimer's at a care
facility. Funeral services will be at 1:00 pm, Friday, Oct. 26 at
Penwell-Gable Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence. "Bob" will lie
in state with visitation from 5:00pm – 7:00pm Thursday Oct 25th.
"Bob", born September 30, 1926, was a native of Topeka and a long
standing member of Local Union #10 of Iron Workers. He began working
for The Costelow Co in the 1950's building television towers which
took him all over the United States. He was also a member of the 32
Degree Masons of the Arab Temple.
He was the youngest of 4 children to Dr. Charles B Clement Sr. and
Georgia Taylor Clement along with an older half brother Tom Clement
"Bob" had no children and was married 5 times; was an avid airplane
pilot, mechanic and machinist who flew all over for work and pleasure
visiting his two sisters, Charlotte Larrabee and Carolyn Ashton that
lived in CA, and his brother, Charles B. Clement in Higginsville, MO.
He was an outdoorsman, loved boating, a camera buff, especially
enjoyed aerial photography, could shoot a good game of pool; and
nothing was more fun than dining with friends at the airport and
talking over good times.
A gentle spirit, soft spoken, he always had a smile for friends and
strangers. He is survived by his sister Carolyn, 3 nieces: Carol
Rodriguez, Mary Susan McCrae, and Adrienne Burrell; and by ex-wives,
girlfriends and buddies.
